The Mitchell’s Plain Network Opposing Abuse aims to empower victims/survivors of abuse, violent crimes, and disasters with coping skills, promoting and advocating for the prevention of crime and violence.
Early Intervention – making communities aware of the destruction caused by violence against women and children which is a pestilence and causes a high mortality rate.
The M.P.Network has the following focus areas:

The Organisation specifically deals with victims who have experienced the following abuse:
Victims of Genderbsase Violence (GBV)
Victims of Violent Crimes (VCV)
Victims of Disasters (D)
Victims mostly have been subjected to the following types of crimes and violene.
In a Domestic violence perspective:
Physical, Verbal, Emotional, Psychological, Financial and Sexual abuse as well as harrasment.
In Violent crimes perspective
Robbery, Murder, Assault, High Jacking, Human Trafficking, Sexual Offence and Gang Violence.
Property Crimes perspective:
Theft of Private property, house breaking, burglary, vandalism and consumer fraud.
Objective:
Empowering victims with coping skills to overcome their psychological traumas, stressors and challenges.
The organisation provides the following services:
Counseling:
Cries intervention counseling at Mitchell`s Plain Court, where victims access service for the prevention of domestic violence. They Are provided with emotional and practical support as wel as legal information.
Trauma Counselling:
Psychological trauma counseling that empowers victims with coping skills to overcome their Grief`s Losses and fears, which enable them regain rational functioning.
Domestic Support Groups:
Support groups where victims / survivors are educated to deal with challenges in relationships.
Skills Development Programmes:
Training to community members who wish to start their own NGOs.
